Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal — Using applesauce to naturally sweeten your oatmeal is a great way to stay away from added sugars. Homemade applesauce is one of the simplest things to make. It can be stored in the fridge and used in baking, smoothies, pancakes, oatmeal, porridge to name just a few.

For applesauce place water, chopped apples, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt in a covered saucepan. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to simmer and cook for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring once or twice, until apples are soft. Remove from heat and mash to desired consistency with a potato masher or hand held blender for a smoother texture.
OATMEAL Put everything in a pot on medium heat. Cover and cook until it starts bubbling, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat and cook until desired creaminess (3 - 5 minutes).
Garnish with your choice of toppings.
